Chemical monitoring is performed on a monthly basis at two locations in the watershed.
Biological monitoring is performed at those same sites on an infrequent basis.

A 2001 PHOTOGRAPHIC TOUR OF THE LITTLE NANCY CREEK WATERSHED:

* Beautiful and historic grist mill ruins along Little Nancy Creek at junction with Nancy Creek

* Located on private property along Wieuca Road

* Well maintained and functioning catchment basin

* Effectively collects silt and prevents runoff to creek

* Located on grounds of DeKalb Training Center on Peachtree Road

* Through much of the Little Nancy Creek watershed the riparian zone is lush and wide

* Where present, this buffer reduces the severity of storm water pulses and helps with the collection of silt

* A view of another riparian zone

THE CHALLENGES AND THREATS:

* Nearly full silt retention catchment

* Threatens to overflow silt directly into Little Nancy Creek

* Located at Dorby Park Dr. in DeKalb County

* Throughout the waterside, replacement of pervious cover with less pervious cover (grass) and impervious cover (blacktop, hardpacked soil) allows for rapid runoff of rain

* Inadequate preservation of creek bed in the center of a construction site

* Successful (if only temporary) cessation of work on the site

* Unidentifiable runoff from GA-400 overpass passing down a small branch into Little Nancy Creek

* Foul-smelling, distastefully colored and slightly acidic

* GA-400 overpass runoff spilling into Little Nancy Creek results in a spring bloom of a milky, foul-smelling algae
